Known also as:
Northern Blue Devil (Paraplesiops Poweri)
Western Blue Devil (Paraplesiops Sinclairi)
Southern Blue Devil (Paraplesiops Meleagris)
Eastern Blue Devil (Paraplesiops Bleekeri)

These are rare temperate fish from various localities of Australia, and apparently differ primarily by geographical region.

What are the distinctions in appearances between the four?

Anyone familiar with them?

LiveAquaria has a Poweri (Northern) in stock for $280.

OVERVIEW
The Blue Tip Longfin Grouper originates from the reefs of Australia and is a rare find in the industry. They have a grayish elongated body, and have large beautiful fins. Their fins are lined in blue, and display blue markings on the face. Although they are aggressive, they may be maintained in a saltwater reef aquarium that does not contain small fish or invertebrates.

A 70-gallon or larger aquarium is required due to its size and feeding habits. It prefers plenty of hiding places provided by live rock. It will consume any small fish or crustacean that is small enough to swallow whole.

The Blue Tip Longfin Grouper prefers a diet of meaty foods such as krill, shrimp, and other small fish.

Yes they Are beautiful, but anything that they THINK they can fit in their mouth is dinner.

LOL. Typical grouper behavior. They're all such hogs.

At a max of 7.5 inches, I could make sure it's the smallest guy in the tank. I just don't have any personal experience yet with temperate species, especially attempting to combine one of these into a tropical tank.

My temperate FOWLR will be reserved for pricey rarities, some of which will be smaller than the Blue Longfin.
