My opinion is to stay away from them...they wander too much and even it the tank is covered they will find their way into the overflow. Mine recently did this and now he is on life support...I fully expect it to be dead tomorrow when I wake up. I have noticed that the slightest mechanical injury and these fish are very prone to infection setting in.\\

Awesome fish. Very personable. Just make sure you have a tight fitting lid & a dsb like stated above. Mine eats everything & anything I feed it. It has chosen one site for its burrow & never moves. This is the second one I've had in 3 years. The first was fine until I left the cover off after feeding for awhile & found him carpet surfing. This is a fish that I will always keep in my tank. Here's a cool pic of mine.

In my experience, this fish doesn't seem to jump out after it gets accustomed to its new home. I've have one now that does great. Eats everything, especially frozen mysis. I had one before this one that was very "social". he came out and greeted me whenever it was time to feed. Unfortunatley he jumped out while I was in school because the power had gone out. I had a very loose top on my tank from my stupid Emperor filter that built into the canopie. Make sure you have a lid on the tank. other than that they are one of the easiest fish i've ever kept. easier than my seahorse lol:

most people use eggcrate or mesh not actual covers.
these fish are relatively harder to keep then most jawfish. It may have something to do with them being illegal to catch so the collection/exporting is a little rough. Many people can keep them for a few months and then they drop dead. I would only put one in a very large tank that is extremely matured... JMO

Awesome picture blface! Makes me want to run right out and get one although it is a bit intimidating to think about $100+ jumping out of the tank
