ok i loved my old trigger before he jumped ....he didn't like me much though always bitting me !! lol . but since he jumped i have gotten many shrimp as well as a huge beautiful gigas clam . there is a pair forsale now that i am interested in . they are "supposed to be " "reef safe" , does this include my clam ? if they take out a shrimp here or there ..o-well , but the real concern is my clam . has anyone have any expirience with these triggers and a clam ? i know a trigger is never to be trusted , but what about these guys and clams?

I have never personally had a Blue Throat, but have seriously considered them in the past. I know of many people who keep them in full blown reef tanks. And have never had any problems with clams or shrimp. But all fish are different. (for example, I keep a Regal angel, Potters angel, and Flame angel in a 55 gallon reef. I have clams, and LPS. I have never had any problems.) If you really like the fish, I would give it a try. You can always monitor them.

Most of them are fine with clams, but some will "sample" the mantles, and if they start doing that, you're in trouble.

I had 3 peppermint shrimp and 2 of the regular cleaner shrimp in my tank with a female and male bluethroat trigger pair, they never touched them.

I have no experience though with how they like clam mantles :)

ok thanks for the help . i'm going to go for it , wish me luck !!! i talked to the seller and they said these are perect specimens . i hope they leave my purple gigas alone !! . worst case ....i set up a new home for the gigas or triggers . thanks again . please if you have expirience of any kind with these fish please let me know your expirience , tim

I have a 6" Blue throat that is great. He is very active. So far hasn't touched any of my shrimp or my clam. Its been in my tank since February.
