i got a male bluethroat trigger (about 6 inches) a week ago and since then he is constantly hiding, he comes out for about 30 seconds maybe twice a day, i also got a blue tang at the same time as the trigger and he is eating like a hog and doing perfect as are all of my other fish; since he is hidind all the time, he gets no food, what should i do? i don't have the means to quarentine him, water quality is perfect, please help

thanks

Some fish are more secluded then others.

He is new, so he is probably stressed and scard and since he has those tank mates up there that is competition too.

I would shorten yout lightening period if possible for a few days, if not, then feed the tank after lights out, right now he probably feels more comfortable coming out at night.

You can try to 'push' some of the food his way, by using a turkey baster or something like that to get down to where he is hiding.

As he gets more comfortable he will come out more and more.. Then one day you;ll wonder what happened to the shy trigger you once had (when he starts stealing and eating all the food).

best,
HB

I would not necessarily think so unless he is getting picked on. Is he a lot smaller then the other fish??

I have a FF too, after QT he was pretty shy for about 2 weeks, just shy from me..
