Bottom drilling a Custom build?

Hey guys,

I'm in the process of making myself a tank. I'm going for a column type tank (20x23x32 tall) 65gal ..the dimensions are weird because it is going to fit an odd alcove in my living room. My plan is to drill the bottom, in the center of the tank and do a Herbie-type overflow. Then I'd like to stack rock around the center overflow and go for an upside down T-shape coral column structure.

I'm following the Garf directions for the build and have already purchased 1/2" precut glass pieces. However I am concerned about drilling the center- bottom for bulkheads and then adding the weight of the rocks around this. Especially since Garf clearly states that all support should be on the perimeter edges of the tank. Garf says to put 1/4" dowel under the bottom piece of glass when gluing it all together. I assume this ensures the bottom receives no support...

I plan on Welding a piece of trim (angle iron) to sink the bottom of the tank into ...this way I can support some of the outward pressure at the bottom.. but I guess my question is - do I need to fear the bottom cracking or falling out of the tank? 65 gal is a lot of water to deal with in case of an accident...also does anybody ever support the bottom? Ok to drill the bottom and then add rocks around it? Any help or advice would be great thanks.
