ordered a gold maxima from liveaquaria for 25 bucks...anyone have any tips or advise on keeping these guys happy and healthy?

Good deal. I bought an ultra gold max from a LFS for twice the price. Anyways, I had mines situated about five inches from my 4x39 watts T-5s. It didn't like it and kept falling off. So after the third time, I just had it sitting on the sand with a small shell underneath for it to attached itself (13" from the light).
It's only been a month since I had it, but it's already growing its second scute (or about 1/8" inch of new shell) and fully opened and reactive to light/shadows. I feed the fishes well, so this in turn feeds the clam well.
Nitrate about ~20ppm.
Ca ~ 420-440
Alk ~9-11
