what does 'browned out' mean. like I know it means the color has faded to a brownish tint but does it mean the coral is on its way out?

No ....corals can survive and be brown. Its usually a sign of too much nutrients or not enough light. They will do much better though when you clear up these issues ie grow faster and be more colorful.

Very nice!! I just picked up a large colony myself hoping it will turn out like that its a nice big stag it has very little color but the polyps are green except the very tip polyp is vibrant blue....ill try and get a now pic and then post again when it colors up..

What kind of lighting are you using ?
