hey all
hoping someone can help me come up with a solution. but i have another question too
I was sitting near my tank a few moments ago and my month old brain coral opened its mouth, shrivled a bit, and spit out quite a bit of orangish brown gunk.. kinda looked like an anemone expelling waste. Is this 'extra zoolengthee(sp) or do brains expell waste as well?
I feed the tank cyclopeeze, kents phytomax, and marine snow (but not often on the snow)
ok my second one...
my tanks 7 months old. im sucessfully keeping a bubble tip nem, 2 clowns.. alot of softies that do fine, grow slow, but theyre happy
I just started to collect lps. after upgradeing to a 250 watt mh.
so far i have a
cluster of red candycanes
1 green candycane
a brain coral
and a torch.
the torch was the most recent addition, had it about 3 weeks.
I got the candycanes first. they opened at night the first night... then i havent seen them open since. they receeded baddly and i almost lost them (i dident understand alkalinity very well) so I got my alk strait and took some crash corses and my candycanes look really good. so i bought the brain. it opened the first day i had it, when i fed the fish, daylight hours.
It doesent open when i feed the tank anymore. It hasent receeded at all, it swells really nicely in the daytime
and the torch. 3 weeks old. the tenicles have been stretched out quite nicely for the last 3 weeks. its in heavy flow, near the middle of the tank
well, the past few days it hasent been looking as good. tenicles are only out part way. I moved it to a softer flow spot, same level in tank
alk - 4. meq/L
calcium-390 to 420
salinity 1.025
ph.. its a color chart but its about 8.0
nitrates.. 15ish
nitites and ammonia zero
I run carbon, i have a skimmer..
I feed the tank calcium, coral vital, azno3 (4nitrates), kent dhk buffer, but rarely do i need to.. unless my testkit sux
um.. that photomax food.. and fish food
any ideas? if you managed to read this whole thing, i appreciate it
maggie
