Hi,
This brain coral is in a friends tank. the mushroom rock below fell on it for a max of 3 hours and started a die off that seems to be growing every day. this all has happened in 3-4 days. do you think he should dip it in anything or maybe frag it somehow? it's very thick rock under it so is it ok to use a dremel if he needs to frag it? its much more green than in picture as ut was shot under actinic with flash....
Are those usually fragged by cuuting them with a dremel or anything or could that lead to any further problems? Thanks for any help

I have a big brain like that one, but I don't no how to frag them. I moved my tank in January and my brain was not happy and I had a section do the same thing. Good water quality and lighting, and it should start to come back. It will take a while. It was proble stung many times in that area and that is why it is dying off. Mine is over half way back where it was dying.

Thanks for your hep Dave.
problem is the affected area was smaller than this and it seems to be spreading...

If you want to frag it I would use a tile saw. But it will probably grow back. I had a brain coral taht got damaged about 2 months ago and now you can't even tell. Target feed the rest of it with mysis and that will help it grow faster and be more healthy.

Sorry didn't see your second post were you said it was spreading. In that case even fragging it may not save it. IME sometimes it will, sometimes they will both just die. I would still try to feed it and see what happens.
