Branching frogspawn and strange happenings

Ok,

so I may have asked this b4, but it seems to be happening more often now. my frogspawn is occasionally releasing some of its extensions. one head has a large bubble in the middle which I read was a sign of it trying to leave lil ones on the rock at some later time, but for the 2nd night in a row, I have seen a small patch of fully inflated tentacle floating round my tank. I have not noticed any fish annoying it, nor does it look the least bit unhappy. here are the fish: Watanebei angel (swallow tail), purple tank, false percula, bi color blenny, 2 bar gobies, 1 fire goby, diamond goby. All are "reef safe" and none have exhibited any signs of nipping what so ever.

any ideas on why it is releasing bits of these polyps?

That happened to me when I almost killed my frogspawn. When I was dumping in buffer, some undissolved particals fell on top of it almost killing it. Not long after that is when it was doing so. It's fully recovered now, only lost one head out of the whole ordeal.

Does the small patch of tentacles look like maybe a head has detached from the skeleton? If so, sounds like it is the season fro such things. In the LPS forum recently, several people mentioned the same thing happening. I had it happen to a baby frogspawn in my 5 gallon at work. I think there was mention of Mag or Str issues, but you might find better info in those threads or the LPS forum in general. They say that if the whole head detaches, you may be able to corral it and over time it may produce another skeleton. I lost mine when I brought it home for Christmas (just disappeared in the move), so I didn't get a chance to test it...

no, in no way does it look like a head. take just one extension off the head with about 2 to 4 of the tips and just cut it off without letting any of the water that it has filled itself with escape. looks like a blown up rubber glove floating in the water.

FWIW mine do that occasionally and it never seems to be any major problem. I've thought maybe the clowns cause it when they host (esp. when the frog closes up at night they'll rough it up a bit more).

Gary, thanks. I dropped a message over yonder to see what I get from it. I mean, the coral looks GREAT with the exception of the large bubble on that one head, but all of its extensions are fully inflated and look great.
