Branching Frogspawn issue

My branching frogspawn has developed a huge bubble (for lack of a better explanation) in the middle of one of its heads. It's at least two inches in diameter and is translucent.

Anybody have any idea what it is? It started growing about 2 months ago but has really expanded in the last week. The polyps around it appear shrucken and unhealthy. I would post a picture but I'm out of town and my wife can't figure out how to post a picture.

Any help would be appreciated. Should I remove the head?

I am digging from the dark recesses of my mind and dredging up "facts" from an unknown source, so do not take this as 100% accurate...

Without seeing it, and assuming it is the same material as the frogspawn flesh, I would guess it is reproducing by producing a piece that will separate and fall off eventually.

Then again, it could be a tumor or a parasite.
