Breaking apart live rock

This is probably a stupid question, I have a large piece of live rock that I would like to break into small pieces for my sump. Are there any toxic nasties hiding inside of live rock, will it cause an ammonia spike is it cured all the way through?

Should be safe. I've done it plenty of times with no worries.
