Brick O' Salt for St. Patty's Day

G'Day all, and Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I noticed today while mixing that my bucket of IO had turned into a solid cylindrical brick at the bottom from humidity. Does anyone know if it's still OK to use? I'm guessing it's OK, but just wanted to double check.

Thanks, and Cheers

Believe it or not, the chunks actually dissolve readily. They just fall right apart when they hit the water. Funny, since I had to use a hammer to break it into chunks.

The only difficulty with salt that has been exposed to moisture is that it can lose uniformity as the various elements creep though the crystal lattice. The solution to this is to mix as much as you can; I once used the last quarter of a bucket that had gone solid, no problems with chemical balance (I did check!).

Happy Saint Patricks day to you too:) i am very Irish, so let me tell you something.

in ancient Ireland they would celebrate with bricks of IO salt, braking them up and spiking their Guiness with it ;)

j/k, happy St. Patty's day
