Brick Red Algae taking over my tank

I have a 39 gallon saltwater tank. I have this horrible red algae on all my live rock and some of the shells of my crabs. I have tried everything to get rid of it. Little light, few water changes, lots of water changes. My latest technique is "Liquid Gravel Vac". But, nothing seems to get rid of it. I have lost all my corals. I only have crabs, a shimp, live rock and 2 clown fish left in the tank. I'm hoping someone out there can help me. I have tried to put large snails in the tank. But, they don't live a full day. I have spent so much money, but, I keep telling myself it can't be this difficult. Could someone out there help me?

Does it feel slimey,come off easily, have bubbles on it, et cetera?

It sounds like it could be cyano bacteria. How old is the tank? Have you tested your water parameters?

Need some tank parameters, when was the tank started, and a pic of the algea would help.

I'm Having the same problem. My tank is about a year and a half old. no dead fish yet though. Algae semms to be taking over the tank. Snails not eating it. Does this look like yours? And Can anyone help us????

Like sharkbait said, we need alot more info. Tank parameters - SG, temp, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, ph, etc... Description - when was the tank set up, lighting, flow, sump, skimmer, water top off (RO/DI ?), LR. What is your routine, feeding schedule, water change schedule. How do measure your salinity. Tell us everything you can think of that may help
