Brittle star dieing?

Ok I got this brittle star and hes upside down and exuding a plume of ???? something from his stomach. Not physical matter but a stream of waste or something. Is he dieing should I yank him out?

hmmmm...doesn't sound good.....But i dont know for sure.

When frightened they will spit out there stomach, keep an eye on it, what else you have in tank? is this guy new?

He's 3 days new and nearly alone in the tank. I took him out. Hope it doesn't sour the tank. There is only a damsel in the tank and he had a ton of refuge.
