brittle star eating my cardinal

Have you ever heard of a green brittle star eating any of the fish. I just introduced 2 into my tank. One passed away due to probable stress from the bully clown. The other was fine at 6:00p, swimming and eating. At 9:00p he was dead and in the grasp of the star. I have never had a fish go down that fast without any sign of demise.

How about black brittle stars? Do they eat fish as well? I thought it was only the green serpent stars that ate fish.

Heres an old pic of mine.Hes double the size from this pic.I know hes well over a foot from end to end.

imo its green death either way
if it can eat a fish it belongs in a different tank. here this should make it easy RISK /// REWARD weigh it
in my case it was not a good experience i hope yours turns out much better

I lost my first dragonette to a green serpant star. He had grown to 13 inches, I was in shock. I just took him to the LFS and said "here take this, I don't like it anymore"

I do believe that is a Green Serpent , correct?? Anyhow....they are absolute killers with huge, untaming appetites. They will eat anything and everything. Very cool animals to have but IMO one of those animals that require a special tank.

Yeah they eat fish. I just lost one of my black clowns to a green brittle. Just be thankful you only lost a cardinal and not a 40.00 black clow.LOL

WOW!Thats a killer IMO..I guess I am lucky but I do feed my tank very heavy with lots of meaty foods.

Ive thought about getting rid of him but I have had him so long.As far as I know for certain he ate one of my cleaner clams.I didnt mind since I get them so cheap here local.I still have 5 in my tank so I tink thats all he killed.I figuered if he was to kill a fish it would be my manderin.
