Broken glass heater toxic?

I have a glass heater (Visitherm orof that type) in a 40 gallon container that I mix up salt water for water changes. I noticed today that it cracked an pieces are on the bottom.

Besides the obvious issue of glass being in there, is there anything toxic in the heater that will go in the water? I hate to dump 40 gallons of salt water. I figure I can bucket out at least most of it before I get the to the glass at the bottom as long as there is no toxicity.

Thanks,
Ken

This exact same issue happen to me in my 55 gallon saltwater mixing tank. While the chemicals are not toxic, I still wouldn't risk it in your tank. It may have costed 50 dollars for the water, but if it does takedown or kill your system you have a lot more invested in it.

I dumped mine, scrubbed it with water and vinegar now it's good to go. I wouldn't risk it man. The cost is minimal to a full tank shutdown or the problems it COULD cause.

i would be worried about the mercury in the heater. I agree with dumping the container and cleaning it out starting with fresh.
