broodstock tank size?

I have a mated/proven pair - I had them in a 15 gallon that I cracked while moving and then replumbing, so the pair is currently in my frag tank. My question is about broodstock tank size. I've seen pictures of what look like pretty small brewdstock tanks - but I'm wondering is if half of a 15 gallon is too small? I previously made a rack for the 15gal to sit next to the frag tank, and I have 24" long available. I can either put a 15gal back in place and keep them alone, or divide it in half and put two pair in a 15 - or maybe use a 20 tall to give them 10gal each. My main question is: will half a 15 be too small? It'd be tied into a much larger reef system so water quality won't be an issue.

7.5 is too small in my opinion, depending on the species you should be ok with 10. Just make sure you are dividing the tank in a permanent fashion with painted glass and silicone and independent drains and returns. All of mine are in separate 20H tanks but some breeder use 10. 10s are not really suitable for maroons and very large percs etc IMO

Disease would be a concern for me plumbing into a reef system

Thanks for the input. I'll probably go the 20 tall route, then.. and yes - I was intending to permenantly install the divider and paint it.

As far as your disease comment, can you expand a tiny bit on that? You are concerned with the addition of fish into the display that bring disease into to the system, mainly?

If I end up getting more breeding pair(s), I'd probably look into splitting them off onto thier own system at that point. I'm not sure the effort is worth the risk (to me personally) at this point.
