Brown algae and phosphate or silicate

I have been doing some research tot ry to kill the diatom brown algae in my tank. It is driving me nuts!

Does brown algae need phosphate, silicate, both? What is the deal. Will a phosphate sponge take out the brown?

Start with a two little fishies phosphate reactor with media from bulkreefsupply.com

Or if your on a budget, add the largest refugium with cheato you can.

For a 55gallon try to do at least 20 gallon fuge.

The stickies at the top of the forum help a lot.

HTH

I should also add that a reactor or fuge will do nothing in the long run if you dont identity the source for the phosphate and silica.

But there are many more better versed members on this forum than I and I will leave it to them to answere that one :D

i agree. find the culprit. but make sure your perams are in order and the bigger the skimmer the better
