brown algae in coral tank

i have a 12gal and a 125gal.. the 12 gal is my coral tank with a seahorse and 2 pipefish....i also have bubble coral ...toadstool. a plate coral adn an open brain....now i have brown algae on th ebottom and on the LR ....how can i eliminate the algae for good...should i get the Fission Skimmer for the aquapod 12 gal...?? let me know ...i don't want to lose the corals to some algae..!!!
 
yeah if you can throw a skimmer in there it's definitely not gonna hurt. Also check to make sure your phosphates and nitrates aren't high (undetectable is best). If this doesn't work try adding a powerhead. Is it slimy and easily removable, or is it stuck to the rocks? If its slimy and not really stuck to anything, it's probably cyanobacteria. If it's really stuck to the rocks and it looks hairy add some snails. Pics would help too...
