brown coraline type algae

I have recently noticed that I have some brown colored algae that is growing on my glass that is just like coraline. Same round patches and crusty texture. I am also starting to see some black slime algae growing in my sump. Not sure if they are related but thought that I would add it to my post. My last phos test was .09 I really dont get colored coraline and my sps have slow growth lately also. I used chemiclean last year and it did a great job on the red slime that I was having but a month after the treatment I started to experience rtn and lost several prized pieces so I will shy away from ever using that again. Any ideas as to what might be going on?

Need pics, but it sounds like a lobophora type of algae by the way you describe it.

From what you are describing, I would agree that is sounds like lobophora.

took this pic tonight. Is there any concern with this type? Is there any relation between it and the black slime I have been getting in my sump?

I wouldn't think there would be a correlation, or any concerns with the species. Maybe you should put some snails in your sump to help with the algae?
