brown jelly disease

hi.
i have a frogspawn that seems to have brown jelly disease. has anyone had any experience with this?
i have put it in an area of increased flow, and blew off all the jelly.

these frogspawns were in my buddies tank, and he was starting to lose them, so he asked me to try to revive them. my water parameters are perfect, besides maybe some barely detectable nitrate.

i've read about iodine baths, but i'm afraid to try this without more than one persons' advice.
thanks.

I had it on a Gonipora. I did regular dips each night with Seachem Reef Dip for about 4-6 weeks and it went away. So far the coral seems to be good. Its been 4 months and it has not come back.

I typically put a cap full in 32 fl oz yogurt cup with tank water and leave it in there for about 15 mins. I did that daily for about 10-15 days till I stopped seeing any brown jelly. But the disease I read spreads deep into the skeleton so I treated it for about 2 months in all. The empty sockets in the Goni skeleton grew new arms back over the last 3 months.

I see LPS with brown jelly usually after an injury has occured to the coral. It seems to appear as a secondary infection and can indeed tear off a lot of the corals flesh very quickly.

I'll use tropic marin pro coral cure or lugols iodine mixed with tank water in a container and let a piece sit for 10-15 mins.. just dont want the water to get too cold compared to the tank. I then do a mild swirling around in the water to shake off any dead tissue etc, and replace the coral into the tank.

More treatments are done if needed but typically after this course of action in my own personal experience they aren't.

Hope this helps

thanks. i've blown off the brown jelly and have been dosing vitamin c. i'm gradually working up to 30ppm and will do this for a week, unless i see adverse reactions of course.

as of this morning, i don't see any new tissue recession. i think this treatment might be doing the trick.

if not, i'll try the meds. thanks for the info!
