Brown palys taking over

Started out as two little brown plays and now they have taken over 3 of my rocks and are moving in on some more. I should have nipped this in the bud but didn't. What are my options besides just to remove the rocks. If I place some nice zoa frags on top of these will they win out or will they get overrun by the palys. This is frustrating...my tank has made a nice comeback after an an issue earlier this year where I lost a few sps. Any advise is appreciated.

Almost all but the most aggressive corals will be overrun by the palys. You could try covering them with kalk paste made to the consistency of toothpaste, but honestly removal of the rocks would be the easiest and surest solution.

You could take the rocks out and take a blow torch to the palys. If you do this you need full skin protection head to toe, eye protection and a breathing mask and it should be done outside.

Be very careful whatever you do. Those trash palys are the culprit in more than a couple hospital trips for palytoxin, and at least one dead puppy dog.

So as long as I put on rubber gloves I won't have a problem correct. Once I remove the rock I need to cut a few sps off to try to save them and get them back in the tank. Once these plays are out of the water is there an airborne threat of paly toxin. Can I get sick just by taking these out of the tank.

You are highly unlikely to get sick from simply removing the palys from water if you wear gloves (and eye protection), but please DO NOT take a torch to them as posted above, that would pose a high risk to you and anyone in close proximity to you.

Well the rocks are gone. Two of them I had bonded together and one smaller one. They went right out to the garbage. Had to do a little re scape and broke up a fire digi into multiple pieces and my frogspawn is a little ****ed but it wasn't as bad as I thought. Going to do a small water change and hope for the best. To be honest I kind of like the new look. I had not moved anything since I started this tank about two years ago and as long as everything stays healthy I'll be happy. Thanks for the advice and hope you all have a nice new year.

I told him to take proper precaution. If done the way I said there is no risk.
