brown sand

The sand in my tank has started turning brown this is live sand but it has never turned brown before. It is spotty not all of it is brown but it does get worse everyday can anyone help me?

soinds like yoru nutrients are too high and there is nothing to stir the sandbed. What is your flow like?

how long has it been running? if a short time, could be diatoms.

if long term, could be lack of flow, and of course excess nutrients

Diatoms. Do you test for silicates?

Phosphates?

Have you changed your water flow pattern lately?

i have three powerheads one for the surface the middle and the bottom. All of my levels check out but the only thing that i was thinking about is my lights. I have 2 150watt hqi's and 2 96watt atinics and the atinics are on for 11 hours and the halides are on for 10 so i do not know if they are on to long and that could be the problem or not
