brown tinge to my live sand

How new is the tank? Has it been cycled and what are the water parameters. I have the same thing, but my tank is freshly cycled and my CUC isn't banging on all cylinders yet.

tanks 2 yrs old size is 3ft in length 2ft wide n 2ft deep display holds 75 gallons not worked out my sump size skimmer working fine n reactor is running n got a mp10 impeller on the side for water movement

Hi lee your post is a bit vague. Perhaps if you provided a few more details we could be more assistance. Usual details would be your tank current parameters such as SG, ph, alk , cal, trates, po4 levels and or what ever you happen to be testing for. Pictures often help.

That being said. After the initial nitrate cycle the "new tank syndrome" will be in full effect for a while. Many people will experience a few various algea blooms ( including diatoms which will be brown film like) possibly a bacterial bloom. It's pretty common and often corrects on it's own. Heavy bacterial blooms may require action on your part. Good luck

hi again my water parameters are running fine I get my water tested twice a week from my local marine stockist my problem is my live sand its been a red to brown tinge for a few months now n cant work out wat the problem is
