BT Anemone Tank. Two Issues…ANEMONE EXPERTS!!

Hello,

I have a 29G Biocube with three Anemones: Rose, Green-Spectled, and a Rainbow. All are Bubbles.

I have two clowns: Picasso, Snowflake.
Inverts: Few snails, hermits, Crab Anemone, and a cleaner shrimp.

The tank has been doing well for months with all three anemone's and the clowns host all of them. My problem is the Green and Rose bubble anemones as they are shriveled. The RBTA looks a lot better but still shriveled and they are suffering from a gaping mouth.

The Green one also has some bleaching and looks white.

BUT my rainbow is doing AWESOME and moved to the top rocks for more light… :hmm5:

I have a AI Nano on his tank with about 45% lighting. At night it stays a very faint moon light.

What can be causing this!?

January 7th
pH: 8.0 ppm
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: 0 ppm
Phosphate: 0.0 ppm
Calcium: 470 ppm
Magnesium: 1470 ppm
dKH: 11.5 ppm
77 degrees

BELOW - Is what the rainbow looks like still and what the RBTA used to look like a few weeks ago. You can see the Green-Speckled is bleached.

So you run carbon?

Have you tried to bump your lights UP some in intensity?

Thanks for responding. Yes, I run the carbon filters that come with the biocube. I use bioballs and have a biocube UV sterilizer.

As for the lights, I bumped them up about two months ago 5% each. What is weird is that the rainbow is loving it.

Change it lately?

On lighting: Did the others react? How are they stretching?

Since two months ago I have not touched it. I did turn on the lightning mode to 40% chance but I am not sure if that is causing it… I will turn this off.

The rainbow is stretching full out and looks super healthy. Two weeks ago the RBTA looked the same but that has since scrunched up. It still opens but the tentacles are stubby.

The rainbow is looking super healthy and happy…which is why I am confused.

Oh and I feed Silversides maybe once every three weeks or so. Just a small chunk.

A few have had problems with silversides in the past. Some do not recommend it, just be careful with them. They are all eating well though?

Lightning mode modifies the amount of light produced during that time frame. That might be a bit, but it should recover depending on how long it runs.

Replace the carbon. There could be a bit of warfare in there, just them seeing what is around it.

If it is stretching full out, it might be looking for some more light. Try bumping it up a bit, for a week. Like another 5%.

What happened two weeks ago? Lighting, air, window, food, cold tank, power failure?

My LTA showed this some time ago, but modified lighting and better placement solved all of its worries.

Hello,

You have 3 different variants of BTA's which may or may not be fighting with one another. Not saying this is the case but it may be something to keep in mind.

I recently introduced a green bubble tipped anemone into my established colony of rainbows. The green was purchased healthy but soon withered away. It's all speculation but I believe the rainbow colony caused its demise; although I have a large rose bubble which lives with them fine.

Bta's are funny lil guys. I had bat tanks for two years. I had a 20 which had 9 of them. I had one rainbow bta, which is really just a rose IMO that has a color morph and all roses and two greens. The greens never fared real well and the rainbow and roses did fine sometimes. But when the rainbow split it did poorly until I sold each to different systems where they both are doing amazing! What finally did in one green was a falling rock and the other just faded away. In my 20 the big green did awesome and the little one struggled. And the rainbow was one day away from being flushed. But although they are tough when I have several they interact in unpredictable ways. Oh that and chemi pure became my best friend:)

Agreed that rainbows are a variant of rose
