BTA Feeding Advice

Gonna Need A Bigger Tank
My BTA is flat-out not doing well...everything else is fine, but he's simply puny...I think I need to target feed...what should be on its diet?

How long has your tank been up? What type of lighting do you have? Anemones are very sensitive to nitrates/phosphates/ammonia, etc. so you might want to check those as well. I feed mine small pieces of silverside and small pieces of squid or chopped up scallops from the fresh seafood section at Publix. I place the pieces on his tentacles and let him feed himself. I feed about 3 times a week. HTH, Marcye

Thanks Marcye...he's been in my 55 since the beginning, but like everything else is new to the 120....however he was "puny" even before the move....I'm going to try the target feeding for a while.
BTW, Craig passed the copperband off to me (i'll pay him later) so far he's getting along w/ my sailfin...keeping my fingers crossed :)

Yeah, I heard...fingers crossed here too. My bubbletip's a pig and getting very large under that HQI light in the nano. Good luck and let me know how you make out!!!

Unless you have a benevolant clownfish to feed an anemone, target feeding is the only way it will get enough food.

I had the same problem until I started spot feeding. I have mixtures of clam, oyster, scallop, squid, shrimp, mysis, brine, spirulina, garlic, and selcon...one has grown over 8" in 5 months.

CS,
Do you mean you take all of those and make a "mixture"? or do you alternately feed those types of things to the BTA?
