I got a new BTA for the "garage tank" late last week. It settled in within a day or so and seemed to stay put. Then, on sunday morning, I awoke to find that it decided to move about, and some how it got stuck half way into my overflow. The weird part is that the teeth on the overflow are only about 1mm wide (as wide as a saw blade).
I tried to coax him out, but didn't want to risk tearing, so I left him there. Within a few hours, I noticed that the part that went between the teeth of the overflow was starting to strech and receed. By the end of the day, it was just a small strand. Then, this morning, he had totally split!!
I used a spatula to get into the overflow side and fish out the trapped part, and now... viola... I have two green BTA's.
Lets hope that there was no real damage and both survive. When I left this morning both were very inflated, but I'm hoping that when I get home tonight they will both have settled in a more permanent spot.
I did a 50% water change as well just in case there were any stingers floating around the tank (w/ 1 perc, 1 chromis, and some mushrooms and Zoa)
