BTA light period

How many hours a day does a BTA need whites on? I've got two 165w Chinese black boxes and was running whites from 10a-8p and blues from 11a-12a all at around 30%.

I was mirroring another lights pre done photo period but just read I may be blasting my LPS with too much white and cut the whites to 10a-3p.

Is this still enough light for my BTA?

11am-12am, 13 hours is a pretty long light schedule. I run mine a total of 10 hours from 12pm-10pm and that's even on the longer side. many people say that there should only be 7-9 hours of light per day and I've even heard you can even go down to 5-6 hours to try to kill off some unwanted algae. And personally I wouldn't keep them on for more than 10 hours including the hour before and after the whites go on and off. If you have some algae problem you can try to shorten the photo period but if you have neusence algae there probably is something else in your water that is contributing to it as well. But if your corals are looking healthy then maybe it's fine. Do the corals look healthy?

I run my blues from 1-1230/1 AM, and white channel from 530-1130. I use the black boxes too and my GBTA have split like mad. I recently sold over 20 that I had in my tank and 3 didn't make the recovery process after being removed from their rocks.

So your new lighting schedule should be better

What percent do you have the whites and blues at?
