i have had a green bta for a few years now, clowns love it, stays in the same place.

it has always been not to bubbly at the tips, but does change.

so i was thinking if anyone knows why some are more bubbly than others?

i would assume its flow, mine is in a sps tank and gets a good deal of flow, but hasnt moved so it must be happy.

This is just all my opinion

I have yet to find a rhyme or reason behind this.

I have tried high, medium, and low (( for anemones )) no change
High, medium and low flow -- no change
Feeding often, not feeding -- no change
Hosting, not hosting -- no change.

i have had the same bta for over 12 years i have about 15 in a tank with a LOT of flow i took 1 and put it in my 20 frag tank and it split 3ways all 3 are bubbled with out much flow so i dont know... i do think if you have a aggressive clown he can knock the bubbles out em

I have an RBTA that bubbles up great. I'm no pro but my opinion is that it is lighting and flow. Mine gets a bit of flow but not too much. It is also the highest thing in the tank right below one of my 250 w MH @ 10,000 K. I had a pair of tomato clowns that would thrash around in it and that did shrink the bubbles down a bit but not too much. I've since gotten rid of the tomato's and the nem looks amazing ever day. Also I feed it 2 times a week w/ krill. Here is a few pics-

Mine have never had bubbles, so I don't even think about it.

Lighting and flow.. Hmm I'm going to have to suggest that it isnt. I have a green BTA that cloned itself and they sit right next to each other. One stays bubbled, one doesn't :(
