I have read that the 'Emeral Crab' (Mithrax sp.) eat hair algae. The verdict on them being reef safe is mixed, but slightly leaning toward reef safe. Actual results are based on exact species and personality, which is difficult to tell at pruchase.
No actuall experience with the crabs personally. Do have alot of bubble algea in my tank and so far have no problems with it. As far as I know, it does not pose a threat to corals as say Calerpa so I assume leave it alone for now.
Search RC if you can for comments on the crab, you can usually do so late at night during the week and at mixed times during the day on a Sunday.
