bubbletips taking over

I started out with one tiny pink bubble tip anemone which as divided into about 6 now and they are taking over 1/3 of my tank (180 gal). All stuck to the live rock they rarely move, never onto the glass. Whenever they get near a coral they inevitably kill it. My poor acroporas. Is there any way I can pluck some off to give away? It's impossible to get them to release from the live rock. I feels like pretty soon I'll have an anemone only tank. Thanks for any help.

thats what happened to me. i was lucky because after failed trys to remove them from rocks i just took the entire rock out, and at least they were all on one rock.

also remember if you try to remove them and dont get it all, it will come back

The only way I succesfully remove them from rocks is to freeze some saltwater, with a popsicle tray, and then touch theyre foot, they will release after a couple of seconds ... wont hurt them either. Works everytime... Good Luck! :wave:

I can't beleive the same thing began to happen to me today. one little BTA in my all Acro tank turned into 6. I recently changed the direction of the flow and I beleive that stimulated them to start to move. This weekend they all move from one location in the tank to spots all over.
I heard of the ice trick before. It supposedely does work well. The other way I have been successful requires picking at the base with a pointed letter opener or dull knife over the course of about 1/2 hour to and hour. Just keep picking and picking. You eventually get under enough and annoy them enough that they release. It just seems like forever when your doing it and in my tank it's very cumbersome. I have to start the process tommorrow

Sounds suspicious to me too...

How large are these anemones, do they retract when scared?

Well hopefully they are the right anemones. Pictures would be helpful. BTW it's my ultimate goal for them to split and take over my tank. One split in 2 years so far. It's going to be a real long wait.
