I've been running a BM-220A for about 4 years now. It pulls out great skim mate, but I'm ready to switch to a DC pump for noise and power options.

My tank is a heavy stocked 150 + 30 sump.

Of these 3 skimmers which do you think has the best skimmer design?

1. Sea Side Aquatics EV3-DC - Jebao DC-6000

2. AE-EC5 - Jebao DC-5000

3. Coralbox Cloud C9 - Jebao DC4000

I would get one that has the most available parts and the quickest rate. Anytime the pump is within the body of a skimmer you are stuck with that pump So my vote is Sea Side Aquatics, or the Simplicity models, they are brought in by the old Reef Geeks guys.

thanks, do you have any models in mind with external dc pumps?

Have the coral box DC. It's great, quiet and effective. Not to mention parts are cheap. I may actually buy a few spare impellers and a spare pump just in case.

i would also look at the skimz line of skimmers.....

I also see no reason for a dc pump on a skimmer. if the skimmer is balanced right to the pump the company puts on it you do not need to adjust the speed of the pump.. Its kinda like the BIG LED DEBATE... TOO MUCH ADJUSTMENT is not always a good thing....

i have seen many people with issues adjusting there DC Skimmer because they were setting the pump speed to high...

i have skimz sm201.. its the BEST SKIMMER I HAVE EVER USED...
