Building a DIY Power center?

I'm kicking around the idea of building a DIY power center. Will build the frame out of 2x4's.

GFCI and say 12 switches/12 outlets...is that i'm kicking around.

Anyone have any suggestions or schematics?

I would say get a Chauvet PC-08 DJ Lighting panel and save the trouble. I got one off the big auction site for $10. You can get new ones for $20.

Replace the socket in the wall with a GFI and plug them into it.

It will save A LOT of time, be 100% safe, and 100% easier. I built one electrical panel, and WONT be doing that again. Ive gotten very lucky with it, but im not pushing my luck any further.

I also suggest a DJ Power Panel and wire up 8 extension cords to 8 house outlets and plug them in the back. If you want the protection of GFCi then you could switch your wall outlet or buy a GFCI extension like I did. Its alot less trouble and isnt expensive at all. I have no electrical experience at all and finished it in an hour.

If you think you have the knowledge to build it without a powerpanel then more power to you. It looks more proffesional that way anyways. I went for the cheap and easy way though.

The issue I have iwth the DJ Power Panel is that I only have 8 outlets. I kinda want more than 8....
