Melev's site is the best. You could set up a 100gal refugium if you had the space for it... the size of your tank doesn't enter into it. In fact, the smaller your tank is, the larger you want your refugium to be.
Here's a few pics of my 6g acrylic fuge that sits beside my 30g. I drilled the fuge and allow gravity to return the water to the main tank. It looks sort of sloppy, but it works well.
I keep the fuge on an opposite light schedule of the main tank and I have lots of Chaeto in the fuge. Seems to help with algae and water quality.
Here's what I will eventually build. I want to connect my two 30g tanks with a central 20g fuge, along with a large rubber tub underneath. The 20g and two 30g's will all be drilled to allow water to run from the top to the bottom, with a pump in the tub to pump it back to the top. Just a concept for now.
