I'm in the process of building a new hood for my 46 gal bf. I have a 175w MH mogal and 4X36"t-5s. I was planning to replace the center brace with a piece of lexan to get even lighting. I am planning to put the MH dead center and have 2 - T-5s on either side. Should I put 2 or 4 fans for cooling? Should I use the 65K or the 22K bulb (came with the MH)? How high should I mount the fixture? I want to be able to keep anything (SPS,Clams ect). I have read most of the MH forum at the beginning of this forum and can not make up my mind since there are tooooooooo many differant opinions.:debi:
Thanks,
Ed

First off I think your are crazy for planning on cutting that brace on a bowfront. You are asking for a disaster. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. And I would forget about the halide and just add two more t5 lamps. With 6 t5s over that tank you can keep anything you want, have better color options, less heat, and 100w less electric. And then no need to cut to the brace.
