Building another new tank

Building another new tank. Planning on transferring my evo 13.5 to the jbj nano cube 28.

Got it at the new local reef club second meeting last night.

Basically have been convinced to use a new sand bed and all new fresh water since the live rocks have the needed bacteria and use the filter sponge from the evo for a bit to prevent issues with toxins from the old sand bed. Plan on filling it up this evening and tonight, and let it circulate and settle for a day or two before starting the transfer

Awesome! Good luck with the transfer. I also reccomend new sand unless you rinse your old stuff really well.

Agree with Shane, new sand.

I’ve helped others and moved a tank or two myself with all new water. As long as your parameters, especially pH and temp match/are close you should be fine.

Water clearing and microbubbles are disappearing . Put some of my rocks and a few corals in the new tank. Figure I'll take my time to hopefully prevent is issues.

Thinking about waiting until tomorrow to transfer the remaining rocks and few corals and fish since it will have been up and running plus adding brightwell microbater7 for 4 days then as well. Actually if I'm thinking this properly, it should be ok since it will be the same livestock that was in the 13.5 gallon, now going into basically a 30 gallon.... so the bioload should actually be cut in half, I would think. Plan on getting a few more pieces of established live rock as well.

Noticed the heater it came with is kinda weak. Barely made the water 76 degrees and usually closer to 74 so decided to get a new one. Kinda glad I didn’t put the more expensive corals or fish in yet in case this heater acts stupid. Got one a year before for my other tank and it had issues with the thermostat and kept running, had tank over 84 degrees. Hopefully this one acts right and not needed to be returned like the last one.

You might want to invest in a heater controller.

That’s a great price.

Thinking about transferring the rest today but still some microbubbles, also may wait until tomorrow to make sure the new heater is acting properly and temperature is stable
