I was planning on drilling my 30 gal cube and was wondering if anyone could help me with what size bulkheads to use. i plan on using a 10 gal sump.

You may be able to get by with a 3/4" bulkhead...but I'd go with a 1" just to be safe. Check out the bulkheads on savko.com...they have sched 80 and sched 40 bulkheads and list the required hole sizes for all of them. I'd suggest going with a sched 80 bulkhead (they are stronger and don't break like the sched 40 ones).

I am planning on trying to keep some sps what would be the pump size to use on the return if i go 1". I was thinking about the mag 5 plus i plan on adding a closed loop would 5 be too many holes drilled in the tank?

should i drill for a external overflow or use a overflow box sorry about all the questions but this is my first attempt at drilling a tank. by the way that is a beautiful tank you have very nice very clean.

Did you really mean your question to be: drill for an internal overflow box or use an external box with siphon tube(s)? If so, definitely drill for the internal overflow. To save space on such a small tank, I'd suggest doing something like I did and not put a full height overflow box in there. Check out the pre-made overflow boxes at barraquatic:

You would need to drill your hole in the back/top of the tank for this type of overflow.
