bulkhead question

Do you use teflon tape on a threaded bulkhead? I installed 4 and tested for leaks, 2 of them are leaking by the bulkhead nut.

No. The threads dont seal the bulkhead. The rubber gasket does. The gasket goes on the flange side, not the nut side.

Thanks, that is what I thought. I have never seen any tape used on any but wanted to make sure I installed it right. I will have to check the seal.

I just looked at the seal and it has a few pieces of sand on it that I am going to clean off and try again.

I had a bulkhead with a clear rubber gasket fail once. When I tore it apart, it turned out that the rubber had turned green and hardened. If you're having problems, make sure you've got a good gasket!

I think everything is ok now. I had to take the bulkhead out and clean the seal several different times, but it doesn't seem to be leaking now
