Have seen a lot of the pics people post and they look amazing what are a few things you could suggest to me to look for when buying one was looking at the cannon 30D but with my wife 7 months prego and just buying a house and buying new stand and canopy for my 120 don't think its in the budget for that one.

Thats still a little too much guess better to buy it right the first time though. Its like i say buy cheap buy twice

If that's still too much you should seriously look think about a nice point&shoot versus a DSLR. With a DSLR the body isn't nearly as important as the lens. A decent macro lens would set you back at least another $400 as well as lenses for general purpose use. It gets really expensive in a hurry.

The Canon G10 is a really nice, compact, p&s that allows manual control and shoots in RAW; something that's important for aquarium shooting.

Thanks for the help beerguy bought the g10 very nice camera need to do a little practice and reading to figure out everything
