Byropsis Eaters Reef Safe.

Hey so I have quite a bit of byropsis in my tank...have kind of been growing it out to help with nutrient extract while I get my Sump and skimmer back up and running. Just looking for good natural ways of managing it. I have heard some inverts eat this. Was wondering what your guys experience is and what is reef safe and what is not. And I have a 36g DT with a soon coming 29g sump with 10g Fuge section.

I have zoas, mushrooms, and a frogspawn for corals.

Thanks!

I don't really have any first hand experience with this stuff, (knock on wood) but the link below mentions some invertebrates that have been known to consume this type of algae. Take each recommendation with a grain of salt though. Also, you might want to consider raising your Magnesium. A lot of people will do this to battle Bryopsis.

Yeah I have been tempted to go this route but am concerned about my corals. I would like to stay away from urchins as I do not epoxy or glue LR and I have heard they are quite the aquascapers. I may just move everything to QT and manual removal + Mag raise after some research....I was told some type of sea slug or nudibranch ate this at my LFS but can't remember what species they said it was. She said it only eats byropsis and is completely reef safe. I'll get back to you on this one.

Lettuce Nudibranch or Elysia Crispata is the Latin name...any experience with these anyone?

Try some mollies perhaps? I haven't had any bryopsis but the mollies kept my algae bloom in check during a long period of poor/lazy reef husbandry
