Is cactus algae best kept in refugium or would it be ok in main tank I have some and it does not apear to grow very fast so im thinking that it may be controlable

i have some in my main tank and it grows fine i have never had to remove any of it from growing to much. so it should do fine

I agree with Tayler...it grows slowly, and if there's too much, it's easy to remove.

Cactus algae aka Halimeda can go sexual, but unlike Caulerpa, that's unlikely to cause any problems.

Jazmine, since it grows slowly, it's not nearly as good as Caulerpa or Chaeto for nutrient export.

I must have a funky tank then, because Halimeda grows like crazy in it. I've removed most of it, but it still grows. Dose it with calcium and it'll go wild.
