Calcium deposits on glass

I was wondering if anyone has seen this:
I have hard calcium deposits, like sand, stuck to my glass. It requires a scrapper to get off.It is all over my sump walls also.
My water parameters are solid, except for my salinity which is always high at 1.028.(I'm working on trying to figure that one out). My water change water is low at 1.023.

Ideas??

1.028 is good. Are you sure the spots you are seeing aren't just some form of calcareous coraline algae?

You think my SPS will not mind 1.028?

The color is brown/green . Have you seen this before?I will look calcareous ca.

I think your SPS will love the hardness of your water.

I have not seen coraline algae like you speak of growing in a reef tank but I know that such colours or algae are known to grow very high up in the reef, i.e. where it is brightest. The pinks and purples are usually seen lower down in dimmer light.

HERE IT IS.It is not coraline.It is granular and is white/green.It is hard.It is calcified. I also have small calcified clumps of sand at the bottom of my tank.
Where could this be coming from? Have you ever seen this before?

There are all manner of encrusting reef life. You may be looking at the butt end of corallites or encrusting worm cases.

yeah.. those look like an encrusting tube worm to me. I have had them in most of tanks throughout the years.. nothing bad.. just another thing to scrape off.. (The little spiral shape gives them away)

Definitely tube worms, they are all over your rock and in small crevices. They arent bad, part of a happy system
