Calcium Ractor Size question

I am looking to build a calcium reactor from some 4" tubing I have now - all the designs I have seen so far are 18" or more tall. I would like to make a two tube reactor from 2 12"x4" dia tubes. Does this seem like enought for a lightly loaded 75 G tank?

I don't think the size of the reactor affects the out put too much (within realistic limits of course). The biggest factor with size is how often you need to refill it. You should be fine with that capacity. My reactor on my moderatly loaded 130 gallon holds 10 lbs of media, and is about half used up after 8 mos.

yeah, i agree that body size really only affects the time between fillings. since the water recirculates in a closed loop within, there isn't any difference at all (unless you are *really* pushing it hard). recirc pump makes all the difference i think. and i do think that too large a body is a bad thing, because then water dwells inside it too long (and O2 drops too much). it seems like you might then start getting some of the same bad effects as an improperly adjusted coil denitrator. no clue on what that size may be, just something i've wondered about.
