Just tested my Alk 200 ppm and Calcium 440. A little high for both. I can't reduce the Affluent drip or it will stop. So do I slow the bubble count on the reactor?
what are you using to control your affluent drip. I have been looking for a gate valve to control mine. I am not happy with my ball valve. If you just drop your bubble count you will have an uneven drop in levels. your alk should stay the same and your calcium will go down. sounds like you need more corals in your tank to soak up all the extra ca and alk. LOL
I would get that alk down to around 150ppm and CA closer to 420-425ppm
The easiest way would be to turn off your co2 until you get those levels down. Once you have you levels where you want the reactor to maintain (don't use it to adjust your levels) turn the co2 back on. This way your CA & Alk are balanced. Start slow on the bubble count and dip rate. Use 2 part to maintain desired levels while dailing in the reactor. Test every day or two increasing drip rate and bubble count until you no longer have to dose two part to keep up with consumption rates.
I would consider the reactor stable once you can maintain levels for a week without needing to add two part. Then you can reduce testing down to weeky and eventually every two weeks if desired. Alkalinity is the main thing you need to test often during this setup phase.
