Calling ASM Experts. Need new pump after failed mod

Fellow Modders out there.

I attempted to mod my ASM g-4 sedra 5000 pump to meshwheel using Enkamat. Followed all instructions best I could. Now the pump will not work with the cover on. The impeller will spin when I have the cover off but not on. The mesh does not touch the sides of the pump and I used 3 layers with 2 mini zip ties to secure. Drilled 5 new holes in the impeller plate also

Here are my options
-Can I run the pump without the impeller shaft?
-Should I just buy a new pump if so what kind? leaning towards a sedra 9000
-Just buy a new impeller and try mesh mod again. Would hate to waste $40 bucks
- Lastly hows the Octopus pumps. Will that work as a substitue? love the cheap price. yah I know the get what you pay for idea but they are getting decent reviews.

Any help appreciated. got a bunch of new zoas coming in and would really like this thing to work.

just remove the third layer and try again, maybe it's too thick and obstructing the impellerl from spinning. Don't have to buy anything, and waste more money for a new pump.
Inspect the mod and see if the knot of the tie is facing inside because if it is facing outside that might cause it for not spinning. A picture of it would really help us to troubleshoot.

Make sure the mesh isn't rubbing against the shaft. Also you can order a new impeller assembly, no need to order a whole new pump.

Thanks guys. I'll remove some mesh and see how it goes. I have noticed that the magnet is warn down unevenly. I'm second owner of this guy and have never really been all that happy with it honestly. Thats why I tried the mesh mod to see if i could get better production out of it.
Thanks for the link. May get one even if this one works just to have a back up.

BTW any experience with the Aqua Usa skimmer? Read several forums on here and they seem pretty good.

i would buy an octo pump before i would buy the sedra impeller. you should try to get the mod working, but i think you would get more out of the modded octo than the modded sedra anyday. how big is the skimmer body? height, diameter, and neck? i might put either a octo 3000, or a genx 4100.

I have been leaning towards a better pump for some time. I am using an ASM G-4. 8" body and 24" height i think.
Octo or genx? I also have an OR3700 laying around I could mod and use.
