Camel Shrimp SPS cleaner

I noticed you are selling these camel shrimps in the diver's den.

Camel shrimp trio. These shrimp have been reported by German hobbyists to consume Montipora spp. eating nudibranch along with their eggs, as well as Acropora eating flatworms. These are for use in a quarantine aquarium only and they are NOT REEF SAFE.

I would like to know more references to the claim you are making here. I understand they are not safe to leave alone with the coral long term but it is a good alternative or addition to use dips to destroy SPS consuming pests.

Why is it necessary to get 3, will the camel shrimp purchased at LiveAquaria site (not diver's den) or local stores work the same?

I also read one instance they might breed? so maybe it is good to keep them in a separate system instead of placing them in the sump to avoid accidently shrimp introduced to the aquarium.

Thanks in advance

StrategicReef,

We recommend only placing the Camel Shrimp, from any source, into a quarantine system only because they are not reef safe. These shrimp have been known to eat Montipora eating nudibranch, their eggs, and Acropora eating flatworms as well. You are able to view an informational post regarding this subject here:

Aefw Predator Found!?!

You are able to add as many or little of these shrimp to your quarantine system as you would like, space providing. Any number of these shrimp is known to help with the pests that may be on your corals.

Please contact us if you have further questions.
