Camel Shrimp to get rid of Zoas

I would have posted this in the Zoanthid Forum but I am afraid the readers in that forum would not understand.

I have a mostly sps dominated tank. A small patch of zoas, brown skirt with pink center have dominated a large table rock and I want rid of the zoas. I have tried boiling water, kalk paste, joe's juice and have not had much success. They are really taking over.

Has anyone tried a camel shrimp with any luck and did they harm anything else. Also, are they compatible with cleaners and peppermint shrimp and do they harm sps or lps?

I would just like some opinions. I know I could get a sundial snail or a zoo eating nudi, but I would rather do it this way so I can capture it after the job is done. I was planning on taking out all my good zoas, so the camel could take care of the pink and brown ones on the rock table. Any experience or suggestions, would be appreciated.

Thanks

Lori

I know exactly what you're saying. ;) I put zoa eating nudis in my tank for the same purpose.

My only experience with camels is when the LFS sold me 3 of them as pepermints. I made a proper ID while they were acclimating, and found out they may eat zoas and xenia. Since I had xenia in the main tank that I actually wanted to keep, I put them in the fuge. I did have xenia and zoas growing in the fuge, but the shrimp quickly wiped it all out. I'd say they work. :)

Oh, and to comment on whether they bother SPS, I also have monti digi and cap in the fuge, and they haven't bothered that at all. I don't know about other corals.

I got 3 camel in my tank and they just picked on my RBTA, never touch my zoas, I don't know if they pick on my SPS....I am guessing they probably do...their claws will get BIG.

I can't take them out.....very smart little shrimps.

I purchased two camel shrimp yesterday and removed all the wanted zoas to another tank. I will let you know how long it takes and how things go.

Thanks Again
