camera question

so i have been seeing great pictures posted. how do i get these great pictures? i have a buddies SLR camera. what settings do i need? can i bring it to the meeting and someone set it up for me?

Clay,

Bring your camera tonight if you want. I will assist any way I can. I can also help you when you get ready to take photos of your tank. ( New one looks good by the way just some elbow grease to get it started.)

A couple of good things to get are a tripod and a lens with macro settings,(which I know how to get around).
