Can anyone in the Elmira/Ithaca area help me drill a tank?

I want to drill a hole in the back of tank. Can anyone around here come and give me a hand?

It is a 65g so it is a bit to just throw in the car and bring it to you.

I'm in Binghamton - and just put 3 holes into the back of a 30 x-high - so I'm not the most experienced - but it went well. I have the dremel bits to do it. Where are you located?

I am in Horseheads and I am just exploring some different options. In the long run I may be better off just buying a submersible pump.

Actually, I have a Dremal (well it is really some other brand, but same thing), I did not think of using that. I guess I can do it myself. Thanks anyway.

I live about 15 min east of you in Vanetten....I've done my fair share of drilling...what size do you need?...I have about 6-7 sizes of bits for drilling glass......let me know.

Thanks for the offer. I would most likely want something for 1" or 3/4" pipe. I just can't decide if I want to drill. I have a 65g RR tank that I want to use as a sump. I have an external pump so I have some options.

One option is to cap the drains in the overflow and drill a hole in the back. That is where you help is might be needed.

Another option is to remove or modify the overflow and just use the existing drain holes for the return to the display.

The third option is to get a submersible pump like a MD18 and not do anything to the RR tank. Someday I may want to use the RR as another display so I was hoping to not modify it too much.

BTW, I got the 65g RR for only $60 which I thought was a good deal. That is why I have it instead of the rubbermaid stock tank I was originally planning on using. I saved money by getting the 65 and now it will cost me to buy a new pump.

Thanks anyway and if I decide to go with drilling option I will get back to you.

i was looking into buying that same tank dave.... lol if you decide you wanna get rid of it and go with the rubbermaid let me know other than that im sure nick or seth at city zoo would do it for you rather cheap. Nick has done a few for me and i have seen some seth has done so no worries there

Thanks for the offer. I decided to go a different route and got a submersible pump.

BTW, Welcome, glad to see another Elmira area person on the boards. There have been a few local additions lately.
